Including discounts, adjustments and write-offs in your reconciliation
This step identifies discounts, adjustments, and write-offs entered into your accounting system. If you wish to include the adjustment on the reconciliation, select the line that needs to be adjusted, then add a comment to confirm whether your lender needs to adjust or not.
This is step 9 of 15. For an overview of the whole process, see Introduction.
Finding the transaction
Use the selector at the top of the screen to alter the display between Discounts, Adjustments, and Write Offs, so you work through one type at a time.
The other controls at the top of the page are:
- Reconciliation Ledger, to pick the ledger
- Debtor, set to All Debtors by default, or pick a single debtor or group
- A Select drop-down set to Default Sorting
- Search, on the right of the page
The table lists each transaction with its Details, Type, Date, Ref ID, Creditor ID, Amount, Entry Date, Outstanding amount, Currency and Debtor, with totals beneath.
The selector above the table switches between the three transaction types.
Including an item
Once you have located a transaction you can include it in your Month End Reconciliation by selecting the check box in the Include column, then adding your comment.
Please note
If you can’t locate an adjustment, please enter it under the Reconciling Items page in a later step. See 12. Reconciling Items.
Once you have identified and commented on all items to be included, select Save And Continue.
Items without a comment will be adjusted.
